This classic bay rum, Pinaud Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum is the essential all-purpose fragrance. It is formulated with a unique blend of exotic spices and essence of bay tree. Not just an aftershave, Pinaud Bay Rum instantly cools, refreshes and tones. As refreshing as an island breeze.

Historically bay was used by 18th century sailors to rid themselves of the stench of on-board life. They rubbed their bodies with West Indian bay leaves, Pimenta racemos, (different from the European Laurel)  when they eventually arrived at their West Indian destination after many months at sea, copying the Virgin islanders who had been using bay leaf oils as a beauty and health remedy for generations

In 1838, Danish chemist Albert Heinrich Riise became interested in this local remedy and discovered that by mixing St John bay leaf oils with fine Virgin Island rums, it created an amazing fragrance. Other ingredients, citrus & spice oils were used to embellish the fragrance.  A drop of oil of cloves is added to lime oil & pimento oil and then steeped in alcohol. As a last step an equal part of "good rum" is added, with cinnamon
