Progress Vulfix is one of the oldest shaving brush companies in Britain still manufacturing top of the range shaving brushes. The Vulfix Old Original Shaving Brush Company was established in 1893 in Manchester. It now operates from the Isle of Man where it relocated in 1954, at a time of industrial development within the Island.

Scotsman Alexander E. Simpson began making shaving brushes in Clapham, London in 1919. After his factory in London was destroyed in the 1941 Blitz, Simpson moved his company to Nimmer Mills, Chard, Somerset. The Simpson brand name was purchased in May 2008 by Progress Shaving Brush (Vulfix) Limited,

Today Vulfix is one of the few remaining manufacturers of genuinely hand-made shaving brushes within Great Britain and the British Isles. (Kent and the mysterious Rooney being the others) The badger hair itself is hand formed without any use of trimming machinery, giving the tapered head shape that Vulfix is known for.
